BitGravity Launches New Content Delivery Network To Enable Next Wave of Higher Quality, Interactive Internet Media

Company Also Announces Strategic Relationship with Sling Media, Inc.

BitGravity, Inc. today officially launched a new content delivery network designed to enable a new wave of Internet media that is expected to be higher quality and more interactive. BitGravity, which has been operating in stealth for over a year, has already validated its technology with over 50 brand name customers. The company has developed a network engineered for a generation of web-based content just being envisioned by major media companies and innovative media start-ups. BitGravity’s network is facilitating the creative development of multimedia applications previously limited by the performance constraints of the Internet.

BitGravity also announced a strategic relationship with Sling Media, the digital lifestyle products company and maker of the Emmy award-winning Slingbox™. Under the relationship, BitGravity will serve as the CDN for a series of forthcoming interactive services from Sling Media.

“Media companies are experiencing a technology barrier; they know in theory they can build applications online in unforeseen ways, but in practice, the current CDN infrastructure is too limiting to realize their vision,” said Perry Wu, CEO and co-founder of BitGravity and a former venture capitalist and veteran of several technology start-ups. “That barrier is now coming down with the launch of BitGravity, and we anticipate content like we’ve never seen before will come to market on our network.”

Major media companies and some technology start-ups have started to develop more innovative video applications for the Internet. While consumers have come to accept the performance and the quality of video for user-generated content and commercially-developed video, they will be less tolerant as the quality matures and as the complexity increases with new applications; requirements that are not ideal running on top of the current CDNs.

“There will be increasing amounts of HD and live content on the web, as well as mosaic applications that allow viewers to jump from one point of view to another, much like a TV director jumps from camera angle to camera angle in the broadcast booth,” said Mr. Wu. “The vision and creativity for these applications exists today, but before BitGravity, the technology infrastructure really detracted from the desired experience. Now you can create experiences that are as engaging as if they were stored locally on your desktop, and when we get to highly immersive applications like online gaming, that’s when the category becomes really exciting.”

The BitGravity network, which has been measured at over four times the speed of some other leading CDNs, is based on optimized routing methodology and network innovations. That combination allows the company to squeeze maximum performance out of a much smaller and more nimble network than typical CDNs. Most CDNs are based on legacy architectures optimized to handle 10-year-old applications, like text and jpeg files. The BitGravity network was purpose-built by seasoned technologists with deep expertise in global technology infrastructures, systems engineering and application development.

“We have approached this problem as a technology problem, not as a typical service provider would,” said Barrett Lyon, CTO and co-founder at BitGravity and a well recognized pioneer in distributed network applications. “We have seen numerous applications that stretch the creative imagination and will require equally creative technology to support them, and we have built a company and a network to service that emerging market.”

The company plans to build several applications on top of its core CDN products to expand on its scalability and management capability and not only provide a richer experience for consumers of content, but also give network administrators more control over their content distribution.

The company, based in Burlingame, Calif., currently manages several facilities in the US and in Europe. It is privately funded.

About BitGravity

BitGravity allows media and Internet companies to differentiate on consumer experience through a content distribution network optimized for video and rich media. BitGravity’s CDN is architected to be mission critical and deliver the kind of rich media that consumers expect and want – HD-quality videos that play instantly, uninterrupted audio streams and interactive applications unbounded by traditional limitations of Internet content delivery. The company is based in Burlingame, Calif. and is privately funded. For more information, please go to www.bitgravity.com.

e2v Selects Jazz Semiconductor for Next Generation Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) Products

e2v, a leading developer and manufacturer of specialized components and subsystems and Jazz Semiconductor®, the leader in Analog-Intensive Mixed-Signal (AIMS) foundry solutions and wholly owned subsidiary of Jazz Technologies™, Inc. (AMEX:JAZ) today announced that e2v has chosen Jazz’s 0.18-micron SiGe BiCMOS process (SBC18HX), for the manufacture of its next generation high resolution programmable data converter products. E2v and Jazz have already demonstrated their successful collaboration on e2v’s award winning 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) developed using Jazz Semiconductor’s 0.35-micron SiGe BiCMOS process, SBC35. e2v received the 2007 EE Times Ultimate Product ACE Award for the World’s Fastest Monolithic 12-bit ADC (AT84AS001TP).

The AT84AS001TP is a 12-bit A/D Converter that can provide 500 Msps data conversion from a single monolithic chip. This breakthrough in ADC design allows system designers to accurately digitize intermediate frequency (IF) signals with frequencies up to 500 MHz at twice the sampling rate of conventional 12-bit ADCs. As a result of combining Jazz’s high speed silicon technology and e2v’s proprietary chip architecture, a new 12-bit ADC standard has been set without compromising on power consumption, dynamic range or linearity. This makes the AT84AS001TP ideal for a wide range of applications including telecommunication infrastructure, high IF broadband digital receivers, test and measurement equipment, high speed data acquisition and radar and communications systems.

Jazz’s SBC35 process, used to develop e2v’s 12-bit ADC, is a mature, low-power, cost-effective solution for both networking and wireless applications. Designers have the flexibility of using any combination of three SiGe bipolar (NPN) transistors, each of which provides a different optimization for power and speed. The highest speed transistor has an Ft of 62GHz and is used for high-performance blocks while the high power transistor can be used to integrate power amplifiers or high-speed drivers on the same chip.

e2v is now developing high speed A/D Converters using Jazz’s SiGe BiCMOS 0.18-micron process, SBC18HX, including the reconfigurable Quad 8-bit 5 Gsps A/D Converter (EV84AQ160CTPY) which provides on-chip interleaving of four separate channels with conversion rates from 1.25 Gsps to 5 Gsps from a single chip at 1W per channel. This next generation A/D Converter features the benefits of fast SiGe bipolar transistors coupled with MOS transistors for lower power consumption and high speed.

“We are continually looking to respond to market demands for ADCs with ever higher linearity over wider analog bandwidths,” said Thierry Gouvernel, General Manager of e2v’s Broadband Data Converter & Microprocessors Business Unit, adding ”the more advanced 0.18-micron SiGe BiCMOS process from Jazz is helping us meet this goal.”

“Our broad range of modular AIMS technologies provides features that allow customers like e2v to deliver innovative products and achieve quick time to market,” said Marco Racanelli, vice president of technology and engineering at Jazz Semiconductor. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with e2v on its next-generation ADC products.”

OKI Launches IPstage® SX, Its IP and Mobile Key Telephone System in the Spanish Market

Accelerates Global Deployment of IPstage® Series

ki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6703) today launched the IP and Mobile key telephone system, “IPstage® SX” in the Spanish market. The product will be sold and supported through Oki Data Corp.’s subsidiary in Spain, Oki Systems (Iberica), S.A.U. The company will offer IP telephony products to the enterprise market, in particular the small and medium size businesses (SMB).

“We are delighted to introduce our IPstage to the Spanish market. While maintaining the functions and cost effectiveness which former key telephone systems had, we can now offer advanced IP telephony systems to SMBs, leveraging our strong track record in IP-PBX,” said Masashi Tsuboi, President of IP Systems Company at Oki Electric Industry. “Because sales and support will be done locally, we believe SMBs in Spain can now enjoy high-level voice communications that meet their needs.”

The IPstage SX can link applications and conduct video conferencing for up to four people, functions that were previously only offered in systems for large-scale companies. It connects to fixed phones such as the “Multi key telephone IP30DKW,” the IP multifunctional phone and the “Multi key telephone Ri,” a multifunctional phone. It also connects to Com@WILL®, OKI’s software phone used on PCs.

OKI introduced the IPstage SX and IPstage MX to the Japanese market in October 2006, and in China in November. In April 2007, based on a strategic alliance with Avaya GlobalConnect Ltd., OKI has been offering IPstage EX100 to the Indian market. In addition, OKI provides the IPstage SX to Thailand and Singapore. With the launch in Spain, OKI continues to expand its global offerings.
